Social Events and Tours

  • Monday, 12 May 2008 - Friday, 16 May 2008
    Cooking Class for Accompanying Persons
    This four-day course will focus on tender spring vegetables, delicate-tasting spring lamb, top-quality poultry and the sweetest berries imaginable. Afternoons are free and can be spent on the beach, touring the area or soaking up some of the glamour at the Cannes Film Festival.

  • Tuesday, 13 May 2008, 18.00 – approx. 20.30
    Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception

    Following the Opening Ceremony, participants will walk to the Mamac Gardens – located next to the conference centre – for the Welcome Reception.
    All registered participants and accompanying persons are cordially invited to this event; registration is, however, mandatory for administrative reasons.

  • Wednesday, 14 May 2008, 14.00 – 18.00
    Nice City Tour
    The tour will start with a panoramic drive along the Promenade des Anglais and its Belle Epoque buildings, the Quai des Etats Unis, the harbor and Mount Boron. We will visit the residential district of Cimiez with its former prestigious hotels, the most glorious of which is the Regina. We will drive past the Russian orthodox cathedral and continue with a two-hour walk through the narrow streets of old Nice and a visit of the baroque Sainte Reparate Church and Sainte Rita Chapel. Finally a stroll on Cours Saleya completes the tour to see the famous flower market with the castle hill in the background.
    Price per person: EUR 40

  • Thursday, 15 May 2008, 14.00 – 18.00
    Cap d’Antibes and Cannes
    The tour will lead you to the beautiful district of Cap d’Antibes with its stylish villas owned by very famous people. The itinerary offers a visit to the Picasso Museum of Antibes, housed inside the old castle where Picasso worked in 1946 inspired by the Mediterranean light. The tour will then continue to Cannes to see the glittering Croisette and the stairs of the Palais des Festivals where the annual International Film Festival takes place.
    Price per person: EUR 55 (including entrance fees)

  • Friday, 16 May 2008, 9.00 – 17.00
    The Principality of Monaco and the Village of Eze
    This tour will give you a good impression of the Principality of Monaco, the Mediterranean jewel, where we will visit the historical old part of the country called the Rock and the cathedral and Palace Square. We will then continue to the part called Monte Carlo with the Casino Square and the Belle Epoque district with the famous opera house built by Charles Garnier and the well-known Hotel and Café de Paris. The Exotic Garden of Monaco has been a unique site since it was opened to the public in 1933 and is absolutely worth the visit. In its prestigious open-air setting, it brings together a wide variety of succulent plants combined with beautiful views over Monaco. Return to Nice with a stop in the picturesque village of Eze.

Note for All Tours
Tours are based on a minimum of 20 participants. If a tour does not take place due to an insufficient number of participants, the ticket will be reimbursed in full. Otherwise, please note that the tickets are non-refundable. An English speaking guide will conduct all tours.
Onsite requests for tours are welcome but cannot be guaranteed.
