XVII. European Stroke Conference
Welcome Address
Dear
Colleagues
On behalf of my colleagues in France, I am pleased to invite you to Nice,
France for the XVII European Stroke Conference from 13 – 16 May 2008.
Nice attracts people from all over the world, for a multitude of reasons.
Not only renowned for its
grace and exceptional climate, Nice is also a city of art and culture and
has become a hub for research in industry, science and advanced technology.
Nice is located in the heart of one of the most
popular tourist regions in the world: the ‘Côte d'Azur’ or French Riviera.
Centrally positioned it is a major asset for discovering the region. The
most well-known places to visit along the coast and in the hillside are
within a radius of 60 miles at most from the city centre.
The best way to get to know the real
Nice is to wander at random through the ochre coloured narrow streets of the
old town and then stroll along the famous ‘Promenade des Anglais’ before
entering into the heart of the city with its rich architectural and cultural
heritage and its beautiful parks and gardens. Nice is also renowned for its
savoury cooking. Tasting the ‘Niçoise’ cooking at
one of the numerous welcoming restaurants of the city is certainly not to be
missed. Each quarter in Nice is alive with markets and boutiques making the
whole city a lively place to visit.
The XVII European Stroke
Conference will be held in a fine, purpose-built convention centre – the
Nice-Acropolis – located in the city centre. It will be a unique occasion
for many stroke specialists from all over the world to update their
knowledge on a wide range of topics. As the
scientific and cultural programmes, teaching courses and satellite meetings
promise to be outstanding, we can anticipate that the forthcoming conference
in Nice will be a great success and a prestigious event focussing on the
most recent advances in stroke.
We look
forward to welcoming you there.
